Louisville, Lexington & More

Louisville: 20% is standard across the city's vibrant food neighborhoods — NuLu, the Highlands (Bardstown Road), and Old Louisville. Kentucky Derby & Bourbon Trail

The Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs — servers and bartenders work the busiest two weeks of the year. Tip 20%+ during Derby season (late April through the first Saturday in May). Restaurants book up months in advance and staff handle triple the normal volume. Stay generous.
Bourbon Trail distilleries: At tasting rooms along the Bourbon Trail (Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, etc.), tipping is not always expected but is increasingly appreciated. Tip $1–2 per tasting flight if the guide provided excellent service — many tour guides and tasting room staff work for modest wages and appreciate recognition.
